Collect the digital fingerprint a trusted person would need if dementia or death makes accounts unreachable — passwords, banks, social, legal docs, and more. Encrypted on this device with your master passphrase. We never see your data.
Unlock or create vault
Your master passphrase never leaves this browser. If you forget it, the vault cannot be recovered.
Write this passphrase down and store it separately (sealed envelope, password manager emergency kit). Without it, nobody — including you — can open the vault.

Steward handoff
Print a sealed instruction sheet (no passwords by default). Keep the passphrase separate from this printout.
Encrypted backup & danger zone
Store backups on an encrypted drive or offline media you control. Never email an unlocked export. Never put plaintext legacy data in Google Docs, Notion, email, or group chats.

- App code can live on free static hosts (GitHub Pages, etc.). That is only HTML/JS — not your secrets.
- Your vault is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key is derived from your passphrase via PBKDF2 (600,000 iterations) using the Web Crypto API in your browser.
- Data stays on this device (encrypted in localStorage) unless you download an encrypted backup you store yourself.
- No accounts, no server vault, no analytics. If you lose the passphrase, the data is gone forever by design.

LegacyLock is an organizing tool, not legal, financial, or estate advice. It does not replace a will, trust, power of attorney, or a reputable password manager with emergency access. Use at your own risk. Keep OS and browser updated. Prefer a private device you control.
